The Spring 2003 JOURNAL of the Jackson County Historical
Society features Old Timers Will Miss It, by James
Tharp.

Not
all traces of our past are visible today, as evidenced by James Tharp’s Old
Timers Will Miss It, an expansion of an 1890 Kansas City Star
article depicting the demolition of Kansas City’s “Old Town Hall.”
James
A. Tharp is Reference Librarian with the Mid-Continent Public Library’s
Genealogy Library located on 24 Highway in Independence, Missouri. In his
spare time, Mr. Tharp is systematically reading Kansas City newspapers and
discerning interesting historical items as they appear chronologically.
JOURNAL readers may see additional items that Mr. Tharp uncovers in future
issues.
