Anniversary of General Orders Number 11 is approaching this summer and the
Jackson County Historical Society has reproduced its original George Caleb
Bingham Martial Law lithograph and made it available for sale. Larry
Wood’s article William C. Quantrill: Upton Hays Man? turns the
spotlight once more to the noted rebel. Larry Wood is a retired public schoolteacher. His articles have appeared in publications including: America’s Civil War; Blue and Grey magazine; Kansas; Missouri Life; The Ozarks Mountaineer; Reader’s Digest; True West; and Wild West. He is author of The Civil War on the Lower Kansas-Missouri Border and The Civil War Story of Bloody Bill Anderson, both available in the Historical Society’s Bookshop.
