The Spring
2004 JOURNAL of the Jackson County Historical Society features Annual
Meeting Awards Promote Societys Mission
By Jim Giles. For over a decade, the Jackson County Historical
Society has taken the opportunity at its annual meetings to provide special
recognition to organizations and individuals who, in their unique ways and
through worthy projects, have exemplified the mission of the Jackson County
Historical Society; that is, to preserve and understand our countys heritage
through the study, appreciation and interpretation of local and regional
history. The recipients of these awards
have been a diverse and distinguished group of people. Among them are authors, philanthropists,
and community activists who are passionate about the history of Jackson
County and its significance to our daily lives. In 2003, the Jackson County
Historical Society continued this tradition by honoring a group of people
whose hard work have made outstanding contributions to local history.
